Where it all began…
Forno Rosso is led by owners, Eliza Moore and Chef, Jhony Hernandez. Eliza and Jhony met in 2017 while working at Lea, a Brooklyn restaurant. Jhony Hernandez was the executive chef and Eliza was in the front of the house. While working together, Jhony and Eliza fell in love and began dreaming of opening their own food operation. In 2020 the pandemic swept the world and Jhony and Eliza moved to the Hudson Valley and began to work on opening a Wood Fired Pizza Operation.
Jhony grew up in Puebla, Mexico, where his mother cooked over an open flame daily and his large family would sit around the fire sharing stories before dinner. He has fond memories of how that tradition shaped his childhood. It was the wood oven that brought his whole family together. Due to this, Chef Jhony is a traditionalist when it comes to cooking. He wants things done the way it has been for generations, while also putting his own spin on it. Forno Rosso is an amalgamation of these passions. The love of a wood oven, simple delicious food and sharing these experiences with others. We love to make our pizza while also sharing the tradition of cooking in a wood oven.
